Times of crisis (like Coronavirus) lead to stress, as does enduring a toxic situation for a long time (like marriage to a narcissistic spouse). Stress blocks a thriving mindset, and scientific studies have shown that stress decreases our ability to process information. So basically, stress makes us dumber and hijacks us of a better life. But we don’t have to let it control us.
What is the opposite of stress? Creativity, bonding/connection, and solution-oriented thinking. Those are the tools we use to cope with stress. But it’s a Catch 22 – those resources become limited when we let stress run our lives, and it becomes a vicious cycle that is hard to break free of.
How do we do we stop the cycle? Two ways – by shifting our attention and focus away from negativity and stress, and by adapting new ways of thinking and doing. We must seek out new routines that help us deal differently with the things that cause us stress. It is a gradual process that takes time to take effect. But it does work.
It means that you first have to realize that the way you have been doing things has not been effective, and you are stuck where you are because what you’ve been doing isn’t working. If you want to change, you must act and think in a way that is different from what you have been doing.
That can be scary. Sometimes, it takes a crisis (like COVID 19 or domestic violence) to get us to hit the reset button.
That crisis can be something like an act of abuse, the last straw after tolerating something for a long time, or coronavirus. The current covid pandemic is actually forcing us to change the way we think about things and offering us an opportunity to change our behaviors and mindset.
Second, is understanding what is the key that makes people successful?
There are hundreds of books interviewing the rich and dissecting what makes them tick. And in the end, the one thing they all have in common is mindset. Mindset is the biggest reason prosperous people prosper and wealthy people have wealth.
But prosperity and success are not just about wealth. Success can take many forms. For some, living a lifestyle that affords them the time to do what they love is success. For others, having influence or being surrounded by friends and family is success. Success is different for everyone. But the one thing that unites them all is mindset.
Third is understanding what contributes to a successful mindset?
